I am delighted to welcome you to the Sustainable Procurement, Environmental, and Social Standards Enhancement Centre of Excellence (SPESSECE), University of Benin, Nigeria. As the Centre Leader, I am honored to introduce you to an educational experience that fosters a deep commitment to sustainability in procurement management, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility.

At SPESSECE, we offer a range of educational programs designed to enhance knowledge and skills in three key areas: Sustainable Procurement Management, Environmental Standards, and Social Standards. These programs include short courses, advanced certificates, postgraduate diplomas, bachelor’s and master’s degree courses in procurement management, environmental standards, and social standards.

Our Centre is dedicated to cutting-edge research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. We aim to address local, national, and global challenges while promoting sustainable practices. We strive to not only impart knowledge but also inspire action, equipping you with the skills to lead positive change in your respective fields.

SPESSECE prides itself on offering innovative curricula aligned with global standards, providing students with the necessary competencies to tackle complex sustainability challenges. Our curricula are enriched by industry engagement through guest lectures, internships, and partnerships with relevant agencies in Nigeria, such as the Bureau of Public Procurement, the Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Women Affairs. These collaborations enhance the employability of our graduates.

We offer a comprehensive support system through our Student’s Support Team, including academic advisors, career services, tutoring, wellness services, and student organizations. Our aim is to ensure that you thrive both academically and personally.

Our programs are accredited by the National Universities Commission, and we are in the process of securing international accreditations. The Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including lecture theatres, lecture recording studio, teleconferencing/online course delivery, an environmental standards laboratory, e-library access, and uninterrupted power supply, among others.

Tuition for SPESSECE is currently free, as supported by the World Bank. The Centre also supports students with industrial visits, field trips, and internship opportunities in collaboration with various organizations.

The Centre is in a peaceful and eco-friendly location that provides the best environment for both intellectual and personal development. Our peaceful environment, combined with modern infrastructure, gives you the most comfortable environment to focus on learning and achievement.
