
Engr. Prof. Sylvester Obinna Osuji, born in 1973, is a highly accomplished academic and professional. Holding B.Eng., M.Eng., and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, along with LLB, BL, and LLM degrees, he’s a registered COREN engineer and member of NSE, NIStructE, and NBA.
Currently, he leads the World Bank-assisted Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement Centre at the University of Benin. His expertise spans structural engineering, procurement law, and Nigerian Content Development. He served as Deputy Director of Procurement at the University of Benin, and as a consultant on various Civil Engineering projects. He has also worked at Shell Petroleum Development Company.
Prof. Osuji has progressed from Graduate Assistant Lecturer to Professor at the University of Benin, holding leadership roles like Head of Department and Assistant Dean. He is a certified Procurement Officer, teaching “Legal Issues in Engineering Practice” and Civil Engineering Procurement.
With over 70 scholarly articles and numerous conference papers, he is dedicated to advancing knowledge. His contributions include teaching, research, and consultancy. He is married with three children.
